History
The first ever International Drag Day was held on July 16, 2009.
The man behind the holiday is Adam Stewart, In an interview with Guidetogay.com he said
“ International Drag Day is a day where all around the world on every gay scene we take this opportunity to celebrate and thank the drag artists that add so much to gay life and culture. This is the reason I launched this concept. I saw that there was no such day or event on an international platform in which we celebrated drag artists. ”
He launched the event via his Fan page for Drag Queens on facebook in which it gained significant interest
Guidetogay.com became the official media partner allowing the event to reach a far greater audience, especially in Australia where the Stonewall Hotel held a big event for the day.
